How divorce counseling can help

  • Deciding whether to stay or divorce
  • Separating with less conflict
  • Talking to children about divorce
  • Co-parenting after separation
  • Grief, anger, and loss
  • Rebuilding confidence and identity
  • Dating again
  • Blended families and new partners

Counseling for couples who are unsure

Sometimes one partner is ready to leave and the other wants to keep trying. Counseling can give you both a clear, calm space to understand what went wrong and decide what is next, without pressure in either direction.

Common challenges

What people bring to divorce counseling

Mixed feelings

Relief and grief at the same time, and not knowing which to trust.

Talking to the kids

What to say, when, and how to answer hard questions.

Conflict with an ex

Staying calm in handoffs, texts, and decisions.

Starting over

Rebuilding routines, friendships, and a sense of self.

Support after the decision

Once a decision is made, therapy can help you separate respectfully and focus on what matters most, especially when children are involved. Ramin's background working with families and adolescents helps parents think about how to support their kids through the change.

Therapy works alongside your attorney or mediator. It does not replace legal advice. See Co-parenting after divorce: helping kids through the change.

Individual support through divorce

Divorce can bring grief, relief, anger, and fear, sometimes all in the same day. Individual sessions give you a steady place to process it and rebuild a life that feels like yours. Learn more about individual therapy.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Still wondering about something? Ask during your free consultation.

Can we do divorce counseling together?

Yes. Couples can meet together to decide, to separate with less conflict, or to plan co-parenting. Individual sessions are also available.

Is this the same as mediation?

No. Mediation handles legal and financial agreements. Divorce counseling focuses on emotions, communication, and family relationships, and can make mediation go more smoothly.

Can you help our children?

Ramin can help parents plan how to talk with children and support them through the change. Ask during the consultation about what kind of support fits your family.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

For many concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship issues, research has found video therapy to be comparable to in-person sessions. Many clients also find it easier to stay consistent when there is no commute.

Do you take insurance?

Sessions are private pay (out of network). During your free consultation you can ask about using out-of-network benefits with your insurance plan.

How much does therapy cost?

Individual sessions are $250 and couples sessions are $500. The first consultation is free. Sessions are private pay, and Ramin is an out-of-network provider.

Who can you see?

Because Ramin is licensed in California, he can see clients who are located in California at the time of the session, anywhere in the state, from San Diego to the Bay Area.
